AQUAPORIN BOOSTED BY INNOVATIONS- FONDEN
Aquaporin is granted DKK 1 million from Innovationsfonden via the InnoBooster initiative targeted for innovative projects.
The Aquaporin Inside® membrane uses Nature’s water channels, so-called aquaporin proteins, to selectively and very efficiently allowing water molecules to pass the membrane. 1 gram of aquaporin protein can transport up to 700 liters of water per second. Now Aquaporin A/S is launching a new project supported by Innovationsfonden that will investigate the use of different aquaporin molecules targeting different market segment for the Aquaporin Inside® technology.
Aquaporin A/S is running a large-scale production of aquaporins to use for the Aquaporin Inside® membranes. Recent in-house advances in the biotechnological production process enable Aquaporin to expand the production platform. With the new project supported by Innovationsfonden, Aquaporin A/S takes this next step and initiates new product development to secure opportunities for growth. The Aquaporin Inside ® membranes will gain an even broader use in function and appliance.
Torsten Høybye Bak Regueira, VP in Aquaporin A/S comments: “The project leads to an expansion of our R&D and production platforms for membrane proteins in Aquaporin. With this, we secure future innovation and product development, and granted funds are key in this process. The unique property of the aquaporin protein lead to an Aquaporin Inside® membrane with revolutionary high water flow for most efficient water treatment. It secure high and extremely selective rejection and enables water treatment with low energy consumption. All of this manufactured in Aquaporin’s headquarters in Copenhagen using water channels made by Nature.
