ARLA FEATURING AQUAPORIN INSIDE™ IN THE DAIRY INDUSTRY
ARLA Foods aim to grow their business without depleting water resources by using the Aquaporin Inside™ Technology
Together with Aquaporin, ARLA Foods is investigating the technical and economic benefits of the Aquaporin Inside™ Forward Osmosis membrane to treat and re-use water from large production volumes. Test of the technology is made possible through the partnership of IBISS – a public private partnership brought to life with co-funding of the Innovation Fund Denmark and a total budget of 90 million DKK.
The Aquaporin Inside™ technology are selective for water molecules only and incorporates nature’s approach to filtration in industrial setting. In ARLA Foods the process is expected to use far less energy and provide superior water selectivity compared to current solutions. Using the Aquaporin Inside™ technology has been demonstrated at laboratory scale and is currently being tested in a pilot scale at ARLA Foods.
