EXPANSION OF THE PATENT PORTFOLIO IN CHINA, JAPAN AND DENMARK
The summer period has seen a further expansion of the Aquaporin IP portfolio by the addition of new patents and a utility model.
In China, Aquaporin’s first utility model No. 203694922 U was issued July 9, 2014 covering Aquaporin Inside™ hollow fiber modules.
Same month saw the approval for grant of the Danish patent application PA 2013 00650 also covering our Aquaporin Inside™ hollow fiber modules. The grant of the Danish patent is expected shortly.
– Once fully commercialized, our proprietary hollow fiber modules will add to Aquaporin’s product line of membranes and modules for forward osmosis and reverse osmosis, says VP of Business Development, Steen Ulrik Madsen. – Such a broad product range gives us a unique position in the water membrane market.
Moreover, this month the Japanese Patent Office has announced a Notice of Allowance for the Japanese patent application “Membrane for filtering of water”, No 2012-132624. When that application proceeds to grant it will be the third Japanese patent granted to Aquaporin A/S.
– We are happy to have reached this milestone for Aquaporin’s patent strategy, comments VP of Intellectual Property, Marianne Spanget Larsen. – The patent to grant covers an important aspect of our aquaporin membranes.
