FROST & SULLIVAN RECOGNISES AQUAPORIN FOR ITS UNIQUE BIOMIMETIC MEMBRANE TECHNOLOGY
Based on its recent analysis of the biomimetic membranes market, Frost & Sullivan recognises Aquaporin with the “2009 European Biomimetic Membranes Technology Innovation Award”.
Frost & Sullivan believes that Aquaporin membranes could very well be established as the future standard equipment for membrane separation and become a welcome alternative to traditional polymeric membranes.
“The membrane performance in separation applications such as desalination of seawater has revealed Aquaporin’s ability to differentiate themselves as a unique technology provider for future applications such as sensors and energy producing devices. The Industry demand for ultra pure water (UPW) used in drug delivery and semiconductor is expected to be addressed by the aquaporin membrane technology, and the reliability and efficacy of these membranes is likely to attract more customers and add value to the existing products in the separation market, thereby, making Aquaporin membranes an industry standard”, says Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Aravind Chander.
Aquaporin’s business model is to partner up with selected leading system providers in different segments through narrow banding co-development & supply agreements. “We expect to market the business concept of an “aquaporin inside” model, where our technology will be implemented in various applications in collaboration with selected industry partners. Frost & Sullivan’s conclusion and acknowledgment of our technology well supports this strategy”, says Peter Holme Jensen CEO of Aquaporin.
